High School Counselors
Gordon State College applauds the hard work high school counselors do to help students excel and grow. This page is dedicated to providing you with all the tools you will need to help your college-bound students through the admissions process.
To be accepted to Gordon State College, students must have completed the Required High School Curriculum (RHSC). Gordon State College follows the Georgia Board of Regents required courses, which are listed below. Students are still admissible with up to 3 deficiencies in their RHSC. Foreign Language is also not required to be admissible to Gordon State.

The Honors Program of Gordon State College is designed to provide opportunities for academically talented and intellectually curious students to obtain an enhanced collegiate educational experience.
Requirements for placement and continuation in Honors for entering freshmen:
- Minimum 1100 SAT or 24 ACT
- Minimum 3.2 high school GPA (not required for home-schooled students, who will be admitted with a probationary period of one semester)
- Application with short essay
* Higher than the minimum is expected in at least one element: the SAT/ACT or the GPA.
For later admission of full-time, transfer, or part-time students:
- Minimum 3.5 GPA in 12 or more hours of college-level courses
- Letter of recommendation from a Gordon full-time instructor (or other appropriate full-time instructor if a transfer student)
- Application with short essay
Honors application deadlines:
Fall application deadline: October 10th (for acceptance notification by October 31st.)
Spring priority application deadline: March 1st (for acceptance notification by April 30th.)
Spring final application deadline: May 1st (for acceptance notification by May 31st.)

Gordon State College is offering a new academic-based scholarship to recognize and support entering freshmen who, during their high school careers, demonstrated outstanding achievement and exceptional academic promise. The Presidential Scholars program is so named because it represents the College’s highest commitment to attract and serve high caliber students.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be accepted to Gordon State College
- 3.5 GPA or higher
- Minimum combined SAT Verbal and Math scores of 1100
- Minimum composite ACT scores of 24

- Satisfactory Accuplacer (COMPASS) test scores, if necessary
